FG Reports Major Gains in Health Reforms; Maternal Mortality Declines by 17%

Nigeria has recorded a significant 17% reduction in maternal mortality and a 12% decline in newborn deaths across 172 high-burden Local Government Areas (LGAs). Announced during the 2025 Joint Annual Review, these gains are attributed to the Maternal and Neonatal Mortality Acceleration Initiative (MAMI), which has seen primary healthcare utilization surge from 10 million to 45 million visits in just over a year.
