NCC Unveils ‘Direct-to-Device’ Roadmap

In a historic policy shift, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has released its Draft National Spectrum Roadmap for 2025–2030. The new framework officially prioritizes “Direct-to-Device” (D2D) satellite technology, aiming to eliminate mobile signal blackspots in rural and riverine areas by allowing standard smartphones to connect directly to satellites without specialized hardware.
