President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the acquisition of additional drones and advanced military hardware to intensify the fight against banditry in northern Nigeria.

Speaking on Tuesday while receiving a delegation of Katsina elders led by Governor Dikko Radda at the State House, Abuja, Tinubu said he had also directed an immediate review of ongoing security operations in the region.
“The security challenges we are facing are surmountable. We have porous borders and inherited weaknesses, but these are challenges we must fix. I have instructed all security agencies to step up their efforts and review strategies. We have also approved the additional acquisition of drones,” the President stated.
Tinubu emphasized that security agencies must now provide daily updates on their operations in Katsina and other troubled states. He further revealed that the federal government is considering the creation of state police and enhancing the capacity of recently deployed forest guards to improve grassroots response to insecurity.
“We will defeat insecurity. We must protect our children, people, livelihood, places of worship, and recreational spaces. They cannot intimidate us,” Tinubu assured.
During the meeting, Tinubu also pledged to immortalize former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a leader who left behind a strong political legacy and a record of success.
Governor Radda, in his remarks, thanked the President for his “unfailing responsiveness” to Katsina’s requests and highlighted the state’s urgent needs in the areas of security, youth empowerment, and infrastructure.
