President Donald Trump has announced plans to immediately remove homeless individuals from Washington, D.C., as part of a broader initiative aimed at addressing crime and public safety in the U.S. capital.

In a Truth Social post on Sunday morning, Trump declared his intent to make Washington “safer and more beautiful than it ever was before,” revealing a forthcoming policy aimed at relocating homeless residents out of the city.
“The homeless have to move out, IMMEDIATELY,” Trump wrote. “We will give you places to stay, but FAR from the Capital.”
He added that while accommodations would be provided for homeless individuals, those involved in criminal activity would face incarceration.
“The criminals, you don’t have to move out. We’re going to put you in jail where you belong,” he wrote.
Trump drew comparisons to his previous immigration policies, claiming rapid results at the U.S. southern border and promising similar speed with his new initiative. “It’s all going to happen very fast, just like the Border… This will be easier — Be prepared!” he added.
The post concluded with a rallying message: “We want our Capital BACK. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
Trump said more details would be revealed during a news conference at the White House scheduled for Monday.
Critics are already raising concerns about the potential human rights implications of forcibly relocating homeless individuals. Advocates for the homeless have warned that such policies may criminalize poverty and worsen already strained social services.
