Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, marked his legal triumph on Wednesday by sharing a humble meal of amala with construction workers at a building site.
This came shortly after Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court in Lagos dismissed the ₦6.9 billion fraud case filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The court upheld a no-case submission by Fayose’s legal team, ruling that the EFCC failed to establish any credible link between the former governor and the alleged crimes.
Fayose was initially arraigned in 2018 before Justice Mojisola Olatoregun before the case was reassigned to Justice Aneke.
The EFCC had alleged that Fayose received ₦1.2 billion for his 2014 gubernatorial campaign and accepted a $5 million cash payment from former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, without passing the funds through any financial institution.

Following the court’s decision, a video shared by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, showed Fayose eating amala among site workers in a gesture of celebration and solidarity.
