President Bola Tinubu secured 131,096 votes in the All Progressives Congress presidential primary conducted across the 192 wards of Edo State on Saturday.
The Edo State Governor and returning officer for the exercise, Monday Okpebholo, announced the results, describing the primary as peaceful and orderly across the state.
According to Okpebholo, Tinubu emerged overwhelmingly victorious, while his challenger, Stanley Osifo, secured only one vote statewide.
“The election was peacefully conducted across Edo State. I participated in the election myself as I voted in my ward, and the results have been presented as they are from all the 192 wards in the state. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu secured 131,096 votes while Osifo scored one vote,” he said.
Collation officers from the 18 local government areas gathered at the APC Secretariat on Ikpoba Hill in the Government Reservation Area to submit results from their respective councils.
In Edo South Senatorial District, Tinubu dominated the polls. He secured 9,177 votes in Oredo Local Government Area, while Osifo recorded none. In Ikpoba-Okha, Tinubu polled 13,147 votes against Osifo’s zero, while Egor delivered 10,074 votes to the president, with no vote for his opponent.
Tinubu also swept Orhionmwon with 6,858 votes, Ovia South West with 10,044 votes, and Ovia North East with 7,983 votes. Osifo recorded his only vote in Ovia North East. In Uhunmwonde, Tinubu garnered 6,159 votes while Osifo again scored none.
In Edo North Senatorial District, Tinubu maintained his dominance, securing 4,564 votes in Etsako Central, 7,123 in Etsako East, 5,492 in Owan East, and 4,139 in Owan West, with Osifo failing to record any vote in those councils.
Tinubu also polled 7,464 votes in Akoko-Edo and 11,497 votes in Etsako West, while Osifo again recorded zero votes.
The trend continued in Edo Central Senatorial District, where Tinubu received 5,441 votes in Esan South East, 4,111 in Esan North East, and 5,467 in Igueben, leaving Osifo without any vote.
In Esan West, Tinubu secured 6,820 votes, while Esan Central delivered 5,536 votes to the president, with Osifo scoring zero in both local government areas.
The Edo results formed part of the APC presidential primary held simultaneously across Nigeria’s 36 states.
