The younger sister of a former Minister of Power and gubernatorial hopeful of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, ADEBAYO Adelabu along with her twin children, has been abducted by suspected gunmen in Ibadan.
The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday morning in the Challenge area of Ibadan South-West Local Government Area.
According to a member of the politician’s media team, the victims were travelling from the Elewura area toward the expressway when they were intercepted by armed assailants and taken away.
“The victims were leaving their residence when unknown gunmen attacked and abducted them,” the aide said.
The latest incident has heightened concerns over insecurity in Oyo State, coming weeks after more than 40 teachers and students were reportedly kidnapped during an attack on a community in Oriire Local Government Area.
The state also witnessed the abduction of an APC chieftain in December 2025. The victim was reportedly seized by armed men at a shopping complex along Akala Expressway in Ibadan and forced into a waiting vehicle before being driven away.
Witnesses at the time described the operation as swift and coordinated, raising fears among residents and political associates.
When contacted over the latest abduction, the Oyo State Police Command said it was yet to independently verify the report. The command’s spokesperson stated that further details would be provided after confirmation of the incident.
