The pupils and teachers who were abducted in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State have been released.
The development was confirmed on Friday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a post on his verified X account.
According to Onanuga, the victims regained their freedom following the efforts of Nigerian security agencies.
“Finally, all the kidnapped pupils and teachers in Orire, Oyo have been rescued by our security agencies,” he wrote.
As of the time of this report, authorities had not disclosed further details about the rescue operation. It remains unclear whether any ransom was paid or the exact circumstances that led to the victims’ release.
The abduction had sparked widespread concern, with many Nigerians calling for swift action to ensure the safe return of the pupils and their teachers. Officials are expected to provide more information as investigations continue.
