Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has pledged the state’s support for President Bola Tinubu’s bid for re-election in the 2027 presidential election.
Aiyedatiwa said his administration would work with supporters of the President to mobilise voters across the state under the campaign initiative, “Ondo for Tinubu 2027.”
The governor made the commitment on Friday when he received leaders of the Ondo State chapter of the City Boy Movement, a political group supporting Tinubu, at his office.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan.
The delegation was led by the state coordinators of the movement, Oluwafemi Ayejusunle and Tomide Akinribido.
Aiyedatiwa argued that his administration’s achievements in infrastructure, employment generation, youth empowerment, healthcare and education would strengthen support for Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to the governor, the positive impact of government projects and programmes across the state would make it easier for his administration to convince residents to support the President.
He highlighted the creation of about 6,000 jobs, ongoing road construction and political appointments as some of the initiatives he believes would translate into increased electoral support for Tinubu.
“Our people are seeing and feeling the impact of good governance. From road projects to health, education and empowerment, we are building a foundation that makes it easy to sell the Renewed Hope message in Ondo State,” the governor said.
Aiyedatiwa added that the policies and development agenda of his administration were consistent with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope agenda.
He maintained that the people of Ondo State would reciprocate the perceived benefits of the administration through their votes in the 2027 election.
Earlier, Ayejusunle commended Aiyedatiwa for what he described as his exemplary leadership and commitment to aligning Ondo State with Tinubu’s administration.
He assured the governor that the City Boy Movement would intensify its grassroots mobilisation, sensitisation and political engagement across the state ahead of the 2027 elections.
The movement said its objective was to strengthen support for President Tinubu and the APC at the grassroots and work towards securing victory for the party in the state.
The declaration adds to the growing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, as political actors and support groups continue to mobilise across states in preparation for the presidential contest.
