Former Anambra State Governor and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has congratulated the Hausa community across Nigeria as they mark International Hausa Day in Daura, Katsina State.
Obi, in a message, described the Hausa people as an important part of Nigeria’s history and development, noting their contributions to the country’s growth through culture, traditions, agriculture, enterprise, scholarship, public service and community development.
According to him, the celebration provides an opportunity not only to honour the rich heritage of the Hausa people but also to strengthen the bonds that unite Nigerians across ethnic and cultural lines.
“Our diversity remains one of our greatest strengths, and our shared future depends on recognizing and respecting the contributions of every community,” Obi said.
He urged Nigerians to embrace unity and mutual respect, stressing the importance of building a country where citizens can thrive irrespective of their ethnic or cultural backgrounds.
“As you celebrate in Katsina, I wish you peace, prosperity, and a renewed sense of hope. May this occasion bolster our unity and inspire us to build a Nigeria where every citizen, regardless of ethnicity or background, has equal opportunities to flourish,” he added.
Obi concluded by extending his congratulations and best wishes to the Hausa community on the occasion.
