The Federal High Court and the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have formally struck out two criminal cases instituted by the Federal Government against Senator Natasha Hadiza Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central.
Reacting to the development, the senator expressed gratitude to God and appreciation to Nigerians, particularly the people of Kogi State and Kogi Central, for their steadfast support throughout what she described as a difficult ordeal.
She stated that the withdrawal of the cases reaffirmed her long-held position that the charges were “maliciously instigated” by individuals bent on manipulating the system to persecute an innocent person.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that his commitment to justice and due process ensured that the truth ultimately prevailed, leading to the discontinuance of the cases.
The lawmaker further acknowledged the support of several individuals and civil society groups, including Obiageli Ezekwesili, Femi Falana (SAN), Dr. Abiola, members of Womanifesto, Ayesha Yesufu, Opeyemi Adamolekun, the Enough is Enough movement, SERAP, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), and others whom she praised for standing firmly for justice.
She reserved special appreciation for her husband, children, office staff and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing them as her strongest pillars of support.
Clarifying the circumstances surrounding the case, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan noted that the notices of discontinuance were filed on December 12, 2025, and were not connected to any church sermon, as had been speculated in some quarters.
She concluded by dedicating the victory to the people of Kogi Central and Nigeria at large.
