A well-known Oyo State broadcaster and media entrepreneur, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election under the platform of the Accord Party.

Hamzat, who is the founder of Agidigbo FM, made the announcement in a public declaration on Friday. In a video shared on social media, the popular broadcaster stated that he would no longer campaign or mobilise support for other political aspirants, as he is now focused on pursuing his own political ambition.
“I am publicly declaring today that in 2027, I will contest in the gubernatorial election under the Accord Party,” Hamzat said. “I will not campaign for anyone or mobilise crowds for anyone.”
The declaration marks Hamzat’s official entry into the Oyo State governorship race and signals a shift from his previous role as a supporter of other candidates to that of an active contender.
Hamzat, widely known for his influence in the state’s media space, has built a large following through his radio programmes and community engagements. His announcement has since generated reactions across social media and political circles within the state.
With the 2027 elections still some distance away, his entry adds a new dimension to the evolving political landscape in Oyo State as parties and aspirants begin early positioning ahead of the polls.
