The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has inaugurated a new radio station, Majority FM 89.5, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The station is housed within the office of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in the state capital and comes amid heightened political mobilisation ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign, particularly in the South-South region.
A video shared on Saturday by Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, showed the minister inspecting the facility, touring the studio and engaging with staff during the commissioning ceremony.
Sharing the footage on X, Olayinka noted that the radio station was established to support the activities of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Rivers State. He added that Majority FM 89.5 is located within the group’s office in Port Harcourt and was officially unveiled by Wike.
Speaking at the event, the former Rivers State governor said the station would function as a channel for disseminating political messages across the state.
According to him, the platform would help reach communities across the 6,866 political units in Rivers State as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“We are ready for this assignment. We are ready for 2027,” Wike said.
