President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday unveiled a free Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) registration scheme targeting 50,000 students across the South-East under his Renewed Hope Agenda.
The initiative will see 10,000 prospective candidates from each of the five states in the region receive ₦8,500 to cover the cost of registering for the 2027 JAMB examination.
The programme was officially launched in Enugu by the National Coordinator of the Southeast Renewed Hope Agenda, Belusochukwu Enwerem. He said the intervention reflects the President’s resolve to expand access to quality education and empower young people in the region.
According to Enwerem, the exercise goes beyond a symbolic event, describing it as a bold step towards removing financial obstacles that hinder students from pursuing higher education.
“Today marks the beginning of a movement of hope and empowerment. It is a clear statement that the future of Enugu State will not be constrained by economic challenges,” he said.
He emphasised that education remains the bedrock of sustainable development, adding that the initiative represents a deliberate investment in thousands of aspiring professionals and future leaders, including doctors, engineers, lawyers, teachers, entrepreneurs, and innovators.
