Suspected bandits have reportedly launched an attack on Jikamshi town in the Musawa Local Government Area of Katsina State, triggering panic among residents.

According to reports, the attackers stormed the community while the assault was still ongoing at the time the information emerged, prompting urgent distress calls from people in the area.

A Katsina-based security analyst known as Bakatsine raised the alarm on social media, warning that armed bandits had already entered the town and could extend their attacks to nearby communities if security forces do not intervene quickly.

In a series of urgent messages directed at government authorities and security agencies, the analyst called for immediate military and police intervention to avert a potential tragedy.

“Bandits are currently in Jikamshi town, Musawa LGA of Katsina State. Security assistance is urgently needed in the town and surrounding communities,” he wrote, urging people to help spread the message so it could reach the authorities and possibly save lives.

The appeal was tagged to several top officials and institutions, including Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda, Defence Headquarters, and the Nigeria Police Force.

As of the time of filing this report, the number of casualties or the extent of damage caused by the attack had not been confirmed, as the situation remained unclear.

Attempts to get an official response from the Katsina State Police Command were unsuccessful. The command’s spokesperson, Abubakar Sadiq, did not respond to calls or messages requesting confirmation of the incident.

Jikamshi and neighbouring communities have in recent months faced increasing security threats, with residents repeatedly urging authorities to strengthen security presence in the Musawa area.
