The Kogi State Government has approved the early payment of March salaries to civil servants in preparation for the upcoming Sallah celebration.

The approval was granted by the state governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, to enable workers in the state to make adequate preparations for the Eid-el-Fitr festivities.

The development was announced on Friday in Lokoja by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo.

Fanwo explained that the early release of salaries demonstrates the administration’s commitment to the welfare of workers, particularly during significant religious celebrations.

According to him, the gesture highlights the government’s ongoing efforts to support civil servants and ensure they are well catered for during important periods such as Sallah.

He added that many civil servants across the state had expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting that the early payment would assist them in making necessary preparations for the celebration.

Fanwo further assured workers that Governor Ododo’s administration would continue to prioritise their welfare, acknowledging the vital role the civil service plays in delivering services to residents of Kogi State.

He also extended goodwill to Muslims observing Ramadan, wishing them a successful fasting period and a joyful Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

Eid al‑Fitr, which marks the end of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, is expected to be celebrated next Friday, subject to the sighting of the moon.
