The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) has officially endorsed a heritage documentation project aimed at celebrating and preserving the lives, achievements and enduring legacies of distinguished sons and daughters of Ibadanland.
The project, titled “Compendium of 100 Most Illustrious Sons and Daughters of Ibadanland,” is designed as a comprehensive heritage initiative to document individuals whose contributions have helped shape the history, development and identity of Ibadan.
According to the project publicity material, the compendium will serve not only as a celebration of notable Ibadan indigenes but also as a lasting repository of knowledge for present and future generations.
The initiative is built around four key areas: heritage documentation, digital heritage archiving, knowledge preservation and inspiring future generations.
The organisers said the project seeks to ensure that the stories of distinguished individuals from Ibadanland are properly documented and preserved rather than lost with time.
Beyond recognising personal achievements, the initiative is positioned as an effort to preserve the collective memory of Ibadan and strengthen appreciation of the city’s historical and cultural heritage.
Nominations Open
As part of the project, nominations are currently open for individuals considered deserving of recognition among the 100 most illustrious sons and daughters of Ibadanland.
Members of the public are encouraged to nominate distinguished individuals whose achievements, contributions and legacies have made significant impacts in Ibadanland, Nigeria or beyond.
The project publicity identifies Spectacleplus Global Concept as the Project Coordinator and provides ibadancompendium@gmail.com as the official email address for submission of nominations.
The organisers are urging members of the public to participate in the historic legacy project by helping identify and document personalities whose contributions deserve recognition.
Preserving Ibadan’s Legacy
