Nigerian gospel singer and pastor, Nathaniel Bassey, has achieved a major milestone in the global gospel music industry after his official YouTube channel surpassed one billion views.

According to available channel statistics, Bassey’s YouTube channel, Nathaniel Bassey Main, has accumulated more than 1.014 billion views and attracted approximately 5.24 million subscribers since its creation in 2011.
The achievement reportedly makes him the first gospel artiste to cross the one-billion-view mark on YouTube.
The milestone coincides with the October 2026 edition of the Hallelujah Challenge, an online prayer and worship programme founded by the gospel minister in 2017.
The initiative, which features midnight sessions of praise, worship and prayers, has grown significantly over the years, attracting thousands of participants from different countries and extending Bassey’s influence beyond Nigeria.
Bassey has become widely recognised for his inspiring gospel songs, including Imela, Onise Iyanu, Olowogbogboro and You Are God. These songs have enjoyed considerable acceptance among gospel music lovers and contributed to his growing international following.
What began as an online worship initiative has gradually developed into an international spiritual gathering, with thousands of worshippers participating in live sessions and millions more accessing recorded broadcasts.
The latest achievement has generated excitement among his followers, with many celebrating the minister’s growing influence in gospel music and digital evangelism.
While the remarkable growth of the Hallelujah Challenge has prompted discussions about the potential financial opportunities associated with its large online audience, Bassey has consistently maintained that the initiative is primarily dedicated to worship, prayer and spiritual devotion rather than revenue generation.
His latest YouTube achievement further demonstrates the growing influence of gospel music and digital platforms in spreading Christian messages and connecting worshippers across geographical boundaries.
