A disturbing video circulating online has triggered widespread condemnation after it appeared to show a young man being shot by police officers in Delta State while restrained and pleading for his life.
The incident reportedly involved operatives of the Nigeria Police Force attached to the Effurum Area Command. In the footage, the victim—whose identity has not yet been confirmed—is seen with his hands tied behind his back, begging officers to spare him and insisting he would cooperate with any investigation.
Witnesses said the man repeatedly pleaded for mercy, claiming he had been misled by a friend and offering to assist the officers with any information they needed. Despite his appeals, he was allegedly shot at close range. The video further shows him in visible pain, continuing to cry out and profess his innocence before another shot was fired.
The incident, which reportedly occurred in broad daylight, has drawn strong reactions from the public and rights advocates, who described the act as deeply troubling.
Human rights activist called for an urgent investigation, urging authorities to identify those involved and ensure accountability. He condemned the act as an apparent extrajudicial killing and questioned the justification for the use of lethal force against an unarmed and restrained individual.
