Former President has dismissed campaign posters circulating on social media that portray him as a presidential aspirant under various political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The , in a statement released on Saturday by its Interim National Working Committee, described the posters as fake and the work of mischief makers attempting to mislead the public.
The statement, signed by the party’s Interim National Publicity Secretary, , reaffirmed that Jonathan remains a registered member of the PDP under the leadership of .
According to the party, the former president recently took part in the PDP’s digital membership registration exercise in his ward and also reaffirmed his membership status during a meeting with members of the Interim National Working Committee.
The PDP explained that the clarification became necessary because the Electoral Act prohibits double party registration and imposes penalties on offenders.
The party further alleged that some individuals may attempt to fraudulently register Jonathan and other prominent politicians in multiple political parties’ databases for political manipulation.
It therefore urged the public and the to disregard any fake campaign materials or political activities falsely linked to the former president ahead of the 2027 elections.
