Suspected bandits on Thursday night launched coordinated attacks on several communities in Kwara State, abducting multiple residents and killing one person during a confrontation with locals.

The attacks targeted Gaa-Oke Abba and Gaa-Alla communities in Isin Local Government Area, as well as Famole community in Ifelodun Local Government Area.

According to sources familiar with the incidents, the gunmen invaded the communities at about 10 p.m., forcing residents to flee while carrying out a series of abductions.

A source disclosed that at least two residents were kidnapped in Gaa-Alla community.

“Two people were taken away by the attackers in Gaa-Alla,” the source said.

The exact number of victims abducted in Gaa-Oke Abba was yet to be confirmed as authorities and community leaders continued efforts to assess the full impact of the attack.

“The number of people kidnapped in Gaa-Oke Abba has not been established because investigations are still ongoing,” the source added.

In Famole community, the situation reportedly turned deadly after residents engaged the attackers in a gun battle. One person was killed during the exchange.

“The attack on Famole resulted in one fatality following a confrontation between the bandits and members of the community,” another source revealed.

Famole is located along the Share-Oke Ode Road near the Oyi River in Oke-Ode Ward II of Ifelodun Local Government Area.

The latest attacks have heightened concerns among residents across parts of Kwara North, where cases of kidnapping and violent attacks have continued to rise in recent months, raising fresh fears about security in the area.
