The lawyer representing controversial disc jockey and TikTok personality Ademola Abiodun, popularly known as DJ Chicken, has alleged that his client has been arrested over a video in which he made comments about President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu.
Speaking in a video shared on Instagram on Thursday, the lawyer, Rotimi Stephen, claimed that DJ Chicken was arrested in Ikeja and is currently being held at the Ikeja Police Headquarters. He further alleged that operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) may be involved in the case.
According to Stephen, the arrest is linked to remarks DJ Chicken made in a viral video about Seyi Tinubu.
He appealed to the Presidency, the comedian’s supporters, and well-wishers to forgive his client and assist in securing his release.
Stephen described DJ Chicken as someone he had mentored over the years, saying he took a personal interest in helping the social media personality as part of his contribution to society.
He urged the government to show leniency, stating that DJ Chicken should not be judged solely by the controversial video and promising that efforts would be made to ensure such an incident does not recur.
The lawyer also expressed frustration over the situation, saying he was unsure of the next steps to take in seeking his client’s release.
DJ Chicken recently attracted widespread attention after posting a video containing comments directed at Seyi Tinubu. The clip quickly went viral on social media and generated public reactions.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Nigeria Police Force nor the Department of State Services had officially confirmed the alleged arrest or disclosed any reason for DJ Chicken’s reported detention.
