The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has warned Nigerians against the sale, distribution and use of Menofix Capsules, describing the product as unregistered and potentially unsafe for public consumption.
In a public alert issued on Tuesday, the agency disclosed that investigations revealed the product, marketed with the slogan “Feel Young Again,” is not registered with NAFDAC despite claims that it provides multiple health benefits for menopausal women.
According to the product’s promotional materials, Menofix Capsules are said to relieve hot flashes, improve mood and memory, enhance sleep and libido, eliminate joint and body pains, reduce vaginal dryness and aid digestion.
However, NAFDAC stated that the claims have not been verified through its regulatory processes and urged Nigerians not to purchase or consume the product.
The agency said it has begun tracing the distribution network of the capsules and has directed all zonal directors and state coordinators to intensify surveillance and remove the unregistered product from circulation nationwide.
NAFDAC identified PureEve as the marketer listed on the product’s packaging.
The agency advised retailers, healthcare professionals and consumers to refrain from selling, distributing or using the capsules, stressing that medicines should only be obtained from licensed suppliers after verifying their authenticity and registration status.
It also urged members of the public and healthcare workers to report the sale of suspected substandard, falsified or unregistered medicines and medical devices to the nearest NAFDAC office.
In addition, NAFDAC encouraged the reporting of any adverse reactions linked to medicines or medical devices through its offices, electronic reporting platforms or the Med Safety application.
The warning is part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to combat the circulation of counterfeit and unregistered pharmaceutical products and protect public health across Nigeria.
