The Okanlomo Oodua and Gbonka Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, has expressed support for the Iru Ekun Security Network founded by Yoruba activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.

Sanusi made his position known when he received Igboho at the Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort in Ibadan, where both men discussed security and socio-economic development across Yorubaland.

The meeting focused particularly on the need for increased community participation in protecting lives and property, as well as safeguarding farms and rural communities from criminal activities.

Sanusi commended Igboho and members of the Iru Ekun Security Network for their commitment to community safety and their efforts to support the fight against kidnapping, banditry and other forms of criminality.

He also praised the courage and dedication of the network’s operatives, saying their efforts demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility towards protecting vulnerable communities.

According to him, security is a collective responsibility and community-based initiatives can complement the work of recognised security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Department of State Services and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

Sanusi, however, urged members of the Iru Ekun network to maintain discipline and professionalism while respecting the rule of law. He also stressed the importance of coordinating their activities with relevant government security agencies.

The Okanlomo Oodua called for stronger collaboration among traditional rulers, community leaders, government authorities and security agencies to create a safer environment for residents, farmers, businesses and investors across Yorubaland.

He expressed appreciation to Igboho for the visit and reaffirmed his willingness to support initiatives aimed at promoting peace, security, unity and sustainable development in the region.

Sanusi noted that the meeting further highlighted the importance of dialogue and cooperation among stakeholders in finding solutions to the security challenges confronting communities across Yorubaland.
