An Abeokuta Magistrate Court sitting in Isabo, Ogun State, has ordered the remand of three men accused of killing retired Ogun State Television broadcaster, Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo.

The suspects were remanded at the Oba Correctional Centre for 60 days pending legal advice from the Ogun State Directorate of Public Prosecution.

Oyesiku and Adetayo were found dead in June at the retired broadcaster’s residence in the Agodo area of Abeokuta. Police investigators who visited the scene reportedly discovered signs of forced entry and evidence of a violent struggle.

Adetayo’s body was found at the security post, while Oyesiku was discovered inside the house. Her Lexus RX330, which had been stolen during the incident, was later recovered by investigators.

Speaking at a press briefing, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, said detectives made a breakthrough after recovering a handwritten note inside the stolen vehicle. According to him, forensic analysis of the note helped investigators identify and arrest the prime suspect.

Ojajuni said the main suspect, 22-year-old Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, was arrested on June 24 at a construction site in the Ibara area of Abeokuta, where he was working as a labourer.

Further investigations led to the arrest of two other suspects identified as 27-year-old Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, a security guard, and 36-year-old Sobu Obafunsho, a bricklayer.

Police alleged that Philip confessed to coordinating the attack, claiming he acted out of grievances from the period he worked as Oyesiku’s security guard and intended to “teach her a lesson.”

Investigators also alleged that the suspects overpowered Adetayo and used him to gain access to Oyesiku’s residence before both victims were killed.

The stolen Lexus RX330 was eventually recovered through intelligence-led and technical tracking operations in the Onikolobo area of Ogun State.

Police said they also recovered several items believed to be connected to the crime, including a broken hammer, a cutlass, a wooden plank and a black pen.
