Former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and ex-Kano State governor, , has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Kwankwaso completed his registration and received his membership card on Monday at Gidan Kwankwasiyya in Kano, marking his formal entry into the party.
The event drew several prominent political figures, including ADC National Chairman , former Sokoto State governor , ex-Minister of Transportation , former Labour Party presidential candidate , Senator , and former APC National Chairman .
His defection follows his resignation from the NNPP, which he announced on Sunday, citing the need for a strategic political realignment.
In a statement, Kwankwaso described his exit from the party as a difficult but necessary decision, noting that the current political climate requires alignment with a platform better positioned to drive meaningful national change.
He expressed appreciation to the NNPP leadership, particularly the National Chairman, , as well as party members and supporters, including those in the Kwankwasiyya Movement, for their support during his time in the party.
Kwankwaso added that he remains committed to working with like-minded stakeholders to promote a more prosperous future for the country.
