Former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, , has emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress primary election for the Oshimili South Federal Constituency seat in Delta State, defeating incumbent lawmaker .

The primary election, conducted across various wards in Asaba on Saturday, witnessed a peaceful process and strong participation from accredited APC members.

Observers at Wards 5, 9 and 11 reported orderly voting and steady turnout throughout the exercise, which was restricted to verified card-carrying party members.

Results from Ward 11 showed Elumelu securing more than 1,000 votes, while Okolie reportedly failed to record any vote in the ward.

Returning Officer Kingsley Oniawa described the exercise as transparent and hitch-free.

According to him, the process was conducted peacefully, with votes properly counted and no incidents recorded during the exercise.

At Ward 9, Elumelu also dominated the poll, scoring over 1,800 votes based on figures announced at the collation centre.

Speaking on the turnout, the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Community Development, Sunday Obi, said party stakeholders effectively mobilised members for the exercise.

He noted that party members were adequately informed ahead of the primary and turned out massively to participate in the voting process.

Ward 9 APC Chairman, Ngoziame Baze, equally commended the conduct of the primary, stating that electoral guidelines were strictly observed and that the exercise was peaceful.

He added that officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission were present throughout the process, with no reports of clashes or disruptions.

Party stakeholders attributed Elumelu’s victory to his grassroots influence and extensive mobilisation efforts across the constituency.
