Nigerian afro-house singer has announced the death of her husband, Michael Ndika.
The Grammy-nominated artiste shared the heartbreaking news through a series of emotional posts on her Instagram Story in the early hours of Wednesday.
Ndika was the Chief Executive Officer of NaijaReview, a multimedia platform dedicated to afro-house and contemporary African music.
In one of the posts, Niniola wrote, “God took him,” before adding in another, “My husband died.”
She also reflected on the length of their relationship, writing, “God took him. 13 years. 13 f***ing years.”
The singer accompanied the posts with photos of herself and her late husband.
Details surrounding Ndika’s death were not immediately made public. Niniola had largely kept her marriage and private life away from social media and public attention.
The 39-year-old singer rose to fame after emerging as one of the top contestants on Project Fame West Africa in 2013. She later gained international recognition with her 2017 hit song Maradona, which attracted praise and collaborations from global stars including DJ Snake, Drake, Timbaland, and Beyoncé.
