Armed bandits reportedly attacked an Operation Burst security base located inside a forest reserve along the Igbeti–Igboho axis in Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State, in the early hours of Sunday.
The attack occurred between 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on September 13, 2026, according to a security update issued by the Oorelope Local Government Command.

The command said it received a distress call reporting that armed men had invaded the Operation Burst base, prompting the immediate mobilisation of its personnel and officers from other sister security agencies.
However, by the time the security team arrived at the location, the attackers had reportedly fled.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the assailants stormed the base in large numbers and opened fire on the security personnel with powerful weapons.
The attackers were also suspected of attempting to overrun the facility, kill the officers stationed there and seize their weapons.
Security operatives subsequently combed the surrounding area and launched efforts to track down the fleeing attackers, but no arrests were made.
No casualty was recorded during the incident, according to the security command.
However, the attackers allegedly set fire to a block within the security base and a patrol vehicle, destroying both properties.
The Oorelope Local Government Command said investigations and security operations were ongoing, adding that additional information would be released as it becomes available.
