The Oyo State Government has taken delivery of two surveillance aircraft in Ibadan, fulfilling its earlier promise that the aircraft would arrive before the end of July.

The development was confirmed in a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, who described the arrival as a major milestone in the state’s ongoing efforts to strengthen security through enhanced intelligence gathering and aerial surveillance.

According to Oyelade, the state government announced the acquisition of the two aircraft on July 8, 2025, as part of its strategy to improve the operational capacity of security agencies in tackling emerging security threats across Oyo State.

He recalled that Governor Seyi Makinde disclosed on July 18, 2026, that the aircraft had arrived in Nigeria and were being reassembled at the Nigerian Air Force hangar in Lagos before their final deployment to the state.

The commissioner noted that the government had reassured residents about a week ago that the aircraft would be delivered before the end of July, adding that the successful arrival of the aircraft has fulfilled that commitment.

The surveillance aircraft are expected to enhance the operations of security agencies, including the Amotekun Corps and other security formations, by improving aerial monitoring, intelligence gathering, and rapid response to criminal activities across the state.

Governor Seyi Makinde was present at the airport to officially receive the two aircraft upon their arrival in Ibadan.
