A woman identified as Innocent Serah has allegedly stabbed her husband, Innocent Nwaọjị, to death in Umuokereke Ngwa, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday night, leaving residents of the community shocked and raising concerns over the circumstances surrounding the couple’s sudden tragedy.
According to reports, Nwaọjị was allegedly stabbed while he was asleep. However, details about what may have triggered the attack remain unclear as of the time of filing this report.
The couple reportedly got married on December 20, 2025, at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, while their wedding reception was held at the NTA Channel 6 premises in Aba. The alleged killing occurred approximately eight months after their marriage.
A community member, David Amaraizu, who confirmed the incident during a telephone conversation with journalists on Sunday, said residents were surprised by the development.
Amaraizu said there had been no known disagreement between the couple before the incident.
He added that the suspect had been arrested and was being held in police custody, while the deceased’s remains had been deposited at a morgue.
The police have commenced an investigation into the incident, with authorities expected to release further details as the investigation progresses.
The motive behind the alleged attack has not yet been established.
