Justice M. A. Savage of the Lagos High Court, Ikeja, on Thursday issued an order restraining social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), actress Doris Ogala, and Kelvin Chimaobi Emmanuel from making any mention of Dr. Chris Okafor, his church, or ministry on any platform.
The injunction, issued pending the determination of a substantive suit filed by Dr. Okafor, applies to all social media and other media outlets. The case, filed as suit no. ID/14399GCMW/2026, names Doris Ogala, VDM, and Kelvin Emmanuel as first to third defendants, respectively.
Dr. Okafor, represented by his lawyer Mr. Ife Ajayi, obtained the ex-parte order under Order 43, Rules 1, 2, and 7 of the High Court of Lagos State (Civil Procedure) Rules 2019, as well as the court’s inherent jurisdiction.
The court also prohibited the defendants and their agents from publishing or sharing any alleged private materials, including chats, texts, images, or videos involving the claimant. Justice Savage specifically barred any references to Dr. Okafor, his church Grace Nation International (also known as Liberation City), or any materials purportedly intended to blackmail or extort him.
Additionally, the judge granted permission for substituted service of court documents, including the writ of summons and witness statements, via newspaper publication.
The matter has been adjourned to February 2, 2026, for further hearing.
