The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) will once again become the spiritual destination for millions of worshippers from across Nigeria and around the world as its 74th Annual Convention begins on Monday at the Redemption City of God along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.
With the theme “Mountain Movers,” this year’s convention, scheduled to run from August 3 to August 9, is expected to draw one of the largest gatherings of Christian faithful on the African continent. The week-long event will feature powerful worship sessions, Bible teachings, fervent prayers, healing services, evangelism and testimonies of lives transformed through faith.
For many participants, the annual convention is more than a religious programme. It is a pilgrimage of hope where individuals, families and nations seek divine intervention over challenges often described as “mountains” — ranging from sickness and financial hardship to unemployment, family crises and national concerns.
The choice of the theme, Mountain Movers, reflects the church’s emphasis on faith, drawing inspiration from the biblical teaching that unwavering faith can overcome seemingly impossible obstacles. Organisers say the convention will encourage believers to trust God for breakthroughs while strengthening their commitment to righteous living and service.
General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, is expected to lead the major sessions alongside other ministers from Nigeria and different parts of the world. Worshippers anticipate messages focused on faith, holiness, revival and God’s power to transform lives.
Preparations for the convention have been underway for weeks, including a church-wide fasting and prayer programme aimed at spiritually preparing participants for the annual gathering. Thousands of volunteers have also been mobilised to provide logistics, security, medical services, traffic management and welfare for the expected influx of worshippers.
Beyond its spiritual significance, the convention also creates economic opportunities for businesses within and around Redemption City. Hotels, transport operators, food vendors and traders typically experience increased patronage as visitors arrive from across Nigeria and overseas.
As anticipation reaches its peak, expectations remain high that the week-long gathering will deliver moments of worship, healing, salvation and renewed faith for millions attending physically and virtually.
For believers converging on Redemption City, the message is clear: no challenge is too great when faith is placed in God. The mountains may be high, but this year’s convention seeks to remind worshippers that they can indeed be moved.
