President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the posting of four ambassador-designates to key diplomatic missions in the United States, France, the United Kingdom and Turkey.
The approval was announced in a State House press statement issued on Thursday by the President’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga. According to the statement, the postings were selected from the 68 ambassadorial nominees confirmed by the Senate in December 2025.
The President approved Colonel Lateef Are as Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to the United States, while Ambassador Ayodele Oke was named ambassador-designate to France.
Also appointed is Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu, a former Nigerian envoy to South Korea, who will serve as high commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom. In addition, former Kebbi State governor, Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman, was approved as ambassador-designate to Turkey.
The statement noted that the posting to Turkey comes ahead of President Tinubu’s planned state visit to the country, describing Turkey as a strategic diplomatic destination.
President Tinubu has further directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately commence the necessary diplomatic processes to formalise the appointments. The ministry was instructed to officially notify the governments of the four host countries in line with established diplomatic procedures.
