The Lagos State Police Command has opened an investigation into the deaths of two Nollywood crew members who were found lifeless inside a parked vehicle at a movie location in the Lekki area of Lagos State.

The victims, lighting director Ekemini “GeeTee” Imeh and his colleague, Ayodeji Walter Odediran, were discovered unresponsive on Saturday, February 7, within the premises of Evercare Hospital, which was being used as a filming location.

Sources told our correspondent that the two men had arrived early at the set to install lighting equipment. After completing their assignment, they reportedly entered a tinted Nissan vehicle on the premises to rest while awaiting further production activities.

At about 11am, a member of the production team was said to have taken breakfast to them in the vehicle. The air-conditioning was reportedly running, and both men appeared relaxed at the time. However, subsequent calls to their phones went unanswered throughout the day.

It was not until filming concluded around 8pm that concerns escalated, leading to the discovery of their bodies inside the vehicle. According to a police source, both men were foaming at the mouth, while one had blood stains around the nose and lips.

The incident was reported at the Maroko Police Station, and CCTV footage from the premises is currently being reviewed. The bodies have been deposited in a morgue pending autopsy and toxicology examinations.

Imeh, who was the Chief Executive Officer of a lighting company before his death, was known for his contributions to major productions, including the film King of Boys, and for working on music videos for popular artistes such as Davido.

Confirming the development, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, said the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.

She noted that autopsy and toxicology tests were ongoing to determine the exact cause of death.

The tragedy occurred just days after gospel artiste Segun Praise, born Matthew Ogundele, and three members of his crew were found dead inside a music studio in the Abraham Adesanya area of Ajah, Lagos.
