The National Assembly of Nigeria has postponed its planned resumption of plenary from Tuesday, February 24, 2026, to Thursday, March 5, 2026.
The change was announced in a statement released on Monday by the Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana. He explained that the adjustment would allow various committees to complete ongoing budget defence sessions.
According to the statement, senators and members of the House of Representatives were informed that the earlier resumption date had been shifted to enable committees finalise work on the budget.
Plenary sessions in both chambers will now reconvene at 11:00 a.m. on March 5, 2026. Lawmakers have been advised to take note of the new date and time.
The postponement comes as the legislature continues deliberations on the 2026 Appropriation Bill, with several ministries, departments and agencies still appearing before committees to defend their budget proposals.
The leadership of the Assembly expressed regret over any inconvenience caused by the adjustment and urged members to comply with the revised schedule.
