A new chapter in community empowerment has begun in Kogi Central with the rollout of electric vehicles under the leadership of Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. The initiative reflects a clear philosophy: intention over impression, impact over handouts, innovation over convenience, and legacy over mere perception.

According to the Senator, the programme goes beyond the symbolic distribution of vehicles. Beneficiaries have undergone structured technical training to ensure they are not only equipped to operate the electric vehicles but also capable of maintaining them. This approach is designed to create long-term economic value, promote self-reliance, and strengthen local capacity in emerging green technologies.

Rather than pursuing short-term applause, the initiative takes what the organisers describe as the “longer route” — investing in systems, skills development, and sustainability. The focus is on building a model that endures, positioning Kogi Central as a forward-thinking district embracing innovation and environmentally friendly transportation solutions.

The vehicles were supplied by Electric Motor Vehicle Company, with coordination support from Prince Mustapha Audu, a proud son of Kogi. Residents are encouraged to patronise the beneficiaries and support the growing adoption of electric mobility within the region.

Supporters say the programme underscores a commitment to sustainable development — one that prioritises measurable impact and generational progress over temporary recognition.
