The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has donated 1,000 Pounds to support the polio eradication campaign of Elite Captain Rotarian Olatunji Emmanuel Okedeyi, who recently completed a motorcycle journey from London to Ibadan to raise awareness about the disease.
The donation was made on Thursday during a reception held in Okedeyi’s honour at the Olubadan Palace, Oke-Aremo, Ibadan.
Speaking during the event, the monarch praised Okedeyi’s courage, patriotism and commitment to humanitarian service, describing his London-to-Ibadan motorcycle expedition as a remarkable initiative that deserves recognition and support.
Oba Ladoja urged other sons and daughters of Ibadanland to emulate the selfless efforts of Elite Captain Rotarian Olatunji Emmanuel Okedeyi, noting that individuals who contribute to the development and positive image of Ibadan should be celebrated.
The monarch also assured that he would continue to support initiatives and individuals committed to promoting the unity, peace and progress of Ibadanland through both financial and moral assistance.
Responding, Elite Captain Rotarian Olatunji Emmanuel Okedeyi expressed appreciation to the Olubadan for the warm reception and generous donation. He also thanked the Okedeyi family, the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), supporters and other distinguished guests for their encouragement throughout the campaign.
Okedeyi is an Ambassador of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), a Captain in the Oyo State Legion, a social worker with Medway County Council in the United Kingdom, and a legal and statutory expert. He is also an accomplished long-distance motorcyclist, having successfully undertaken several solo and group expeditions across Nigeria and other countries.
The reception was attended by Prelate Sunday Ola Makinde, Barrister Adeniyi Ajewole, Mogaji Dr. Nurudeen Akinade, Mrs. Bola Doherty, Chief Mrs. Rasidat Adetunji, Chief Omikunmi Egbelade, members of Okedeyi’s entourage, family members and other invited guests.
